Gail moved to Brevard in 2017 from Columbia, SC where she worked as a lobbyist at the Statehouse in Columbia, primarily representing nonprofits including Eat Smart Move More SC, March of Dimes, YMCA, and the SC Community Loan Fund. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duke University. Early in her career she served as the Administrative Assistant to Governor Richard Riley after assisting in a variety of roles in his campaign. Gail has also served on many nonprofit boards, including the Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics, Katrina’s Kids, and the Jackson-Macon Conservation Alliance. Since moving to Brevard, she has served on the board of the Hunger Coalition of Transylvania County and created the Friends of Davidson River School. She and her husband, Ken, have four grandchildren who will, hopefully, be future hikers in Pisgah.
“So much comes to mind when I think about my favorite thing about Pisgah. I think about the serenity and sense of calmness I encounter when I first enter the forest. I think of the many beautiful trails and streams where I am surrounded by the natural world and can feel totally shut off from the outside world. I look at the beauty that surrounds me and am so grateful to be able to experience this whenever I choose.”
