Sam joined TPC in March 2024. After graduating from Haywood Community College, Sam started his career as a conservation technician and team leader for the Wildlife Resources Commission where he gained experience in habitat manipulation and improvement techniques. He then went on to work with the North Carolina Forest Service as an Assistant County Ranger where his primary duty was fire control, although he assisted with water quality surveys and landowner outreach programs. He is a North Carolina native and after spending some time living in Montana, he’s thrilled to be back in Western North Carolina. He lives in Hendersonville with his wife and they enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing.
“My favorite thing about Pisgah is the amount of water that flows down from the mountains. The small streams at high elevations create riparian habitats that support a great number of plant and animal species. These waterways lend to the amazing diversity of this area. The streams turn into rivers that provide clean and clear water that our local communities depend on for drinking and recreation.”
