My Pisgah Story
Pisgah Forest is my Happy Place. I discovered it later in life. My husband Joe and I were living in Birmingham when we found Western North Carolina. After spending New Years Eve 1995 at an inn in Saluda, the innkeeper directed us to Pisgah to hike Looking Glass. I quickly knew we needed to find our way here. That finally happened in 2001. When I retired, I wanted to be more connected to this place that I love, and started volunteering with the USFS at the Visitor Center. During that time, this wonderful organization, The Pisgah Conservancy, came into existence. I marveled at the energy of that first Pisgah Pride Day. Clearly, lots of folks share my love of this forest and these ancient mountains. I think we were all just waiting for TPC to create a way for us to show it. I'm honored to serve on the board and play a role in furthering TPC's mission.
