Caring for the Land and Serving People. (-U.S. Forest Service Motto)

We continue to stand by our region as it heals from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, holding those who have lost loved ones or suffered damage to their homes or livelihoods in our hearts.

The Pisgah Conservancy remains committed to meeting the needs of our partner, the U.S. Forest Service. We are guided by the agency’s motto: “Caring for the Land and Serving People.”

At this moment of tragedy, serving people is paramount.

Many of our staff and board members are actively involved in preparing food for the community, supply acquisition and distribution, and cleanup efforts in Western North Carolina.

If you have the means, we encourage you to contribute to one of the following organizations that are on the ground providing direct aid, or to a fund dedicated to helping the many impacted Pisgah-area businesses recover:

BeLoved

Sharing House

Hearts with Hands

MANNA Food Bank

Habitat for Humanity

Community Foundation of Western North Carolina Disaster Fund

Transylvania Tomorrow

Forests regenerate. The region will recover. But it will take time and a lot of hard work.

At The Pisgah Conservancy, we look forward to working with the U.S. Forest Service to help reopen Pisgah and its trails and rivers. It’s early days now, but before long we’re going to want – to need – to get out on a trail, climb a mountain, camp by a stream and let the forest help us understand that things are going to be alright. We will be working hard to make that opportunity available as soon as possible.
