Over twenty-five years ago my husband and I, along with our youngest daughter, would drive up from South Carolina to backpack in Pisgah. Even a visit by a skunk and winds from a hurricane during one overnight stay did not deter my immediate love for the area. When we moved to Brevard in 2017, I began to reacquaint myself with the region by taking weekly hikes into the Forest. It became immediately clear to me that we had made the perfect choice for our retirement home based on the proximity to Pisgah National Forest, a true gem on the East Coast. The serenity of the area with its never-ending beauty always brings a sense of peacefulness to me as soon as I drive into the Forest. By working with the Pisgah Conservancy, I look forward to doing what I can to ensure that future generations will have the same opportunities that I do to enjoy this truly special place.
